Program of topics explored. Summer 2023

 

Plants, Earth, Light, Wind, Water

 

These themes proved to be extremely popular when we did them last summer. There is so much more we can do to explore and understand them better.

​

Children who were lucky enough to have a go at the activities we did a year ago, will be able to revisit some of the experiences and take them to another level. Building on their own bricks of knowledge acquired through experiential learning. It is what makes the foundation of knowledge a lot more solid and brings an enormous amount of satisfaction to learners. This further sharpens curiosity that we love seeing, and supports the blossoming of each child’s confidence, dexterity, empathy and wellbeing whilst at Faire l'école buissonnière, and beyond.

Children will have to work together and use their language skills to clearly communicate and elaborate a plan. Learning through play, using all of our senses to make longer lasting knowledge and grow their appetite for more.

 

On Friday 4th of August we will celebrate all of the achievements children will have made over the course of this 2 weeks program. This is also a fundraising event organised by the children with our support. All money collected then will be given to charities.

Those charities can be local or international, it’s up to the children to decide how they wish their fundraising event to impact the most on what or who they value.

We are depending on the weather conditions so we have to adapt to them on the daily basis which can make our plans change at the last minute. We also pay close attention to the groups' needs and dynamic amongst participants, so we have organised a variety of workshops on each of the topics listed below that suit those. The list of activities for each theme are examples of what will be on offer then.

Not listed there but as important are various games that we play together based on the theme of the day, to keep on consolidating and growing the language skills and cooperation of children.

You will be reminded of the daily theme the day before your child(ren) attend.s on the group messaging system.

​

To follow the requests of children who gave their 'wish list'  there will be treasure hunts, dens making, foraging and many more memorable experiences of just being in wilderness.

On Mondays : Plants and animals 

 24 & 31.7.23

• Animals foot prints hunt and samples taking by using plaster

• Leafs and bark prints to make memory games and a treasure hunt

• Making strings and ropes from plants to make swings

• Making big and tiny dens using sticks and  challenges of shapes and dimensions for the bigger explorers

• Measuring trees' height from the ground

• Wood carving by bugs and by us using tools (under close supervision by an adult for the sharp ones)

On Tuesdays : Earth and soil

• Dinosaure bones treasure hunt

• Prints  of vegetation on clay 

• Land art with stones and the various  colours and texture of soils

• Weighting different volumes of soil, density to compare

• Making bricks for our dens and dry stone walls

• Photosynthesis game 

 

On Wednesdays: Light and shadow

 26.7.23 & 2.8.23

• Story making about emotions to grown mindfulness

• Film making  of shadow cinema theatre 

• Giant collective drawings and land art designs using light and shadow

• Finding directions and orientation by using the sunlight

• Parcours blindfolded to use other senses

• Sensory travels close and far

On Thursdays : Wind and Air

 27.7.23 & 3.8.23

• The effect of hot and cold air for birds flights and migration

• Giant wind turbine with a bike to fly home made origami kites

• Making rain drops sideway with strong wind and movement

• Birds songs recording to make a treasure hunt

• Coding messages with sounds

• Sound pollution obstructions

On Fridays : Water 

 28.7.23 & 4.8.23

​

• The carrying water challenge

• Hydrating our bodies and plants, the water cycle

• The tidal effects with the Sun and he Moon cycles using magnets

• Water pressure to pop up our volcanos

• Float or sink and why

• Fishing not just fish, what else lives in the stream.

​

 

We are really looking forward to seeing you all again this summer, to share those adventures with your children and you in the forest.
